When I first arrived here in America, I was so excited to experience all kinds of things including special occasions like wedding, graduation and anniversaries. I want to know and see how it’s done here in America. So far, I’ve already attended baby shower parties, wedding anniversaries, and graduation parties. I haven’t seen wedding ceremonies yet. I would love to go to a wedding party someday. The last invitations that my husband and I had received was for the baby shower party. Although, we weren’t able to attend to the party, but we were able to give our share. I went shopping for baby clothes days before the party. Our friend was expecting a baby girl, so I was having fun shopping for baby girls stuff. I went to my favorite clothing store and bought some cute outfits, baby blankets and other stuff for the baby.
Anyhow, we often received graduation invitations from many of our friends in the old congregations that we were into before. It was cool because the parties were usually done at the open park and we bring the foods of our choice. Normally, we coordinate with the host and they’re the ones who tell us what kinds of food we were specifically told to contribute. We basically ended up having diverse foods on the table because some of us are Mexicans, Americans and Filipino. Diverse group of people with diverse type of foods is really something that was new to me because I never experienced anything like this back in my country Philippines. Another cool thing about the graduation parties that we went to before was that, we celebrated not only for one graduates but for the entire students in our congregation who happened to graduate on that same year. There were all kinds of gifts for each student. It was really fun.
